State Division of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Pat Reed is retiring after a lengthy career in public service.
The Register-Herald reports , in her four years at the DMV Reed pushed technology to make automobile registration and driver’s license renewals quicker and easier.
She is responsible for the three-minute kiosk as well as a 350 percent increase in online registrations and renewals.
Reed says she also worked to build the morale of the DMV customer service representatives “so they’ll be more friendly and helpful to the citizens of West Virginia.”

Reed previously served as deputy commissioner in the Office of the Insurance Commissioner, and she served two terms in the House of Delegates.
Secretary of Transportation Byrd White says no decision has been reached on who will replace Reed.
